A few helpful answers

A little help, whenever you need it.

Playing a puzzle

How do I find a word?

Find a word from the list in the letter grid. Drag from its first letter to its last letter in one straight line. With a keyboard, focus a grid letter, press Enter, extend with the arrow keys, and press Enter again. Escape cancels a selection.

Can words go backwards or diagonally?

For kids uses a 10 × 10 grid with words running right or down. Hard uses a 15 × 15 grid with all eight straight-line directions, including backwards and diagonally. A word does not turn a corner.

Is the word list a hint?

The word list tells you what to look for, but it does not show where a word sits. The optional hint button highlights the first letter of one remaining word. Each puzzle has three hints.

What changes between destinations?

The story and words change with the place: flowers in the garden, sea life at the coast, woodland words in the forest, summit words on the mountain, and space words at the star lookout. Completing a destination collects its stamp.

Is there a time limit?

No. The timer records elapsed time. You can take your time, use a hint, or choose an easier puzzle.

Daily puzzles and printing

How is the daily puzzle different each day?

The date, destination, and difficulty together select the grid. The same combination recreates the same puzzle. Dates change at midnight UTC; your local calendar may be one day ahead or behind.

Can I play an earlier day?

Yes. Use the date picker or Previous day and Next day. The archive begins on January 1, 2026 and ends on the current UTC date. Historical puzzles are recreated with the current generator and vocabulary; they are not a record of what was published on those earlier days.

How do I print with answers?

Open Print & play, choose the destination and difficulty, select Include answers, then Print puzzle. The answer sheet is designed as a separate page. Your browser controls paper size, margins, and printer settings.

Can I get a different grid without changing the date?

New puzzle starts a random free-play grid. Daily puzzle returns to today’s dated puzzle. Only dated puzzles can be added to Saved puzzles; a random puzzle’s progress can still be resumed from a saved account snapshot.

Accounts and postcards

Do I need to sign in?

No. All difficulties, destinations, archive dates, hints, and printing are available to guests. An account lets you save postcards, history, favorites, and current progress across devices.

Where is my guest collection saved?

In this browser’s local storage. Another device or browser will have its own collection. Clearing site data can remove guest records. When you sign in, your guest collection is merged into the account.

How do I continue an unfinished puzzle?

Open My postcards and choose Continue my puzzle. Progress saves after meaningful interaction and periodically while you play. Simply visiting a page does not replace the saved puzzle. An abrupt close before a save finishes may lose the newest moves.

Are email verification and password recovery available?

Not yet. Keep your password safe. We cannot email a password-reset link at present. Contact us if you need help; we may need to verify account ownership before acting.

What happens when I log out?

Your cloud collection stays with the account. This browser’s local account copy is cleared and a new guest puzzle starts. Sign back in to access your saved journey.

Can children create accounts?

Accounts are intended for people aged 13 or older. Younger players should play as guests with a parent or guardian, without entering an email or personal details. An adult can keep the family’s collection in the adult’s own account.

How can I manage privacy or request deletion?

Visit our Privacy Policy for storage, analytics, and privacy controls. Use the contact form to request access, correction, or deletion of account data.
